BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana's transportation secretary, William Ankner, has resigned.

Ankner had worked for Gov. Bobby Jindal's administration as secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development since Jindal took office two years ago.

No word was given for Ankner's resignation. Jindal's office announced Ankner quit the post only by announcing who would fill Ankner's job temporarily.

Ankner's deputy secretary, Sherri LeBas, will work as interim secretary of the department through the upcoming legislative session and until a permanent replacement is found.
