NEW ORLEANS – A man is recovering after being attacked and beaten with a hammer while walking near Bayou St. John.
Shortly before 12:00 a.m. Thursday, the victim was walking near the intersection of Moss Street and Orleans Avenue when he was attacked by an unknown, hammer-wielding assailant, after the armed man got out of a gray sedan with Oregon plates, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The man struck the victim twice with the hammer, and then the attacker fled in his car after a short struggle, according to police.
The assailant is described as a white man, 5’8” inches tall with a medium build and brown hair, according to police.
