FRANKLINTON, La. -- A man has died in a Saturday evening fatal crash in Washington Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
The accident happened just before 10:30 p.m. about six miles north of the Franklinton city limits.
Sidney Sumrall, a 54-year-old Bogalusa resident, died in the accident.
Police say Sumrall was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban west on LA 436 when he started drifting right. Sumrall then overcorrected to the left and crossed both lanes of traffic. He hit an embankment and overturned, ejecting Sumrall from the Suburban.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police don't suspect alcohol was a factor.
Sumrall was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
