NEW ORLEANS -- A man investigated in connection with the disappearance and murder of a French Quarter dancer has been moved from a North Carolina jail to a federal prison.
According to court records 40-year-old Terry Speaks was turned over to federal authorities last week.
The transfer happened five weeks after he was sentenced on charges of being a non-registered sex offender.
Speaks and another woman were persons of interest in the Jaren Lockhart case, but they were never charged.
Lockhart disappeared from a French Quarter club last June. Days later her remains washed ashore along the Mississippi coast.
