NEW ORLEANS - A motorcyclist was killed after his bike struck a Nissan Altima that was trying to cross General DeGaulle Drive in Algiers Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. at Wall Blvd. at General DeGaulle.

According to police, the driver of a 2003 Buell motorcycle was traveling westbound on DeGaulle when he struck a 2010 Nissan Altima attempting to cross DeGaulle.

The driver of the motorcycle died at the hospital, while the driver of the Altima was taken to the hospital and was said to be stable.

No citations were issued at the time, though the investigation continues. The name of the victim had not been released as of 5 p.m.
