NEW ORLEANS -- A motorcyclist was killed after hitting an SUV in New Orleans East Sunday evening, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Around 8 p.m., a 42-year-old man was headed toward Lake Pontchartrain on Downman Road on a motorcycle when he struck a SUV that was preparing to make a u-turn in the 7500 block of Dowman Road, according to police.
After hitting the SUV from behind, the motorcyclist lost control of the bike and hit a fire hydrant. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the SUV was unharmed, according to police.
A toxicology test will be performed, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
