NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police are looking for a man who tried to kidnap a 9-year-old girl as she waited for her school bus Thursday.
NOPD spokeswoman Officer Shereese Harper said at about 7 a.m. in the 2500 block of Dreaux Avenue, the girl was waiting for the school bus outside of her home when the suspect grabbed her shirt in an attempt to take her. The victim's mother ran outside and stopped the suspect, who then fled on foot towards Venus and Mirabeau streets.
Harper said the suspect is a black man, 40 to 50 years old, 5-8 to 5-9 and around 250 pounds, and has salt and pepper hair. He was wearing black jean shorts, a white baseball cap and a light blue or gray sleeveless shirt.
The NOPD also released a computer composite of the suspect, which you can see below.
