NEW ORLEANS ― Police arrested a teenager Wednesday morning in connection with a murder in the St. Claude neighborhood a week and a half ago.
Cassie Poree, 19, of New Orleans East, was taken in custody at 8:30 a.m. at his home and booked with first degree murder, NOPD spokesman Gary Flot said.
According to Flot, officers were called to the 4300 block of North Villere Street on March 7 at 11 p.m., finding two victims lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
EMTs pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
An NOPD homicide detective determined that Poree was involved in the murder and secured a warrant. Shawn Smith also was arrested for his involvement in the murder, getting taken into custody on March 10 and charged with first degree murder.
