NEW ORLEANS ― Officials are investigating whether an overnight fire and a shooting near the blaze early Tuesday morning are related.
At about 1 a.m., a fire broke out in the 4500 block of Chef Menteur Highway at a gas station. Seconds later, NOPD was called to a shooting at the same location.
The inferno gutted the inside of the gas station and the fire department is investigating the start of the fire.
As for the shooting, officer said a man was shot and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
