NOPD officer arrested on battery charges

NEW ORLEANS – A 13-year-veteran of the NOPD was arrested Saturday night and booked for battery on his girlfriend, disturbing the peace and public intoxication.
NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas said that Officer Douglas Butler was arrested by the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office on May 30.
Serpas said Douglas was suspended without pay and a preliminary investigation into the incident has been started by Public Integrity Investigators.
