NEW ORLEANS -- A New Orleans Police Department officer was arrested and put on suspension for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident last year.

Officer Roger Jones, 38, is accused of disregarding a traffic signal, driving recklessly, hitting a parked car and fleeing from the scene, said NOPD spokeswoman Officer Remi Braden.

Braden said the incident happened September 19, 2011 near the corner of Magazine Street and Jackson Avenue. She said no one was injured.

The Public Integrity Bureau has launched an investigation into the allegations.

Jones, a 14-year veteran of the force, was most recently a quality of life officer for the 8th District.
