NEW ORLEANS - After two recent reports of a large snake, possibly a boa constrictor or python, one as recently as last week near an elementary school, Riverbend neighbors are on alert.
Residents have notified police and officials with the Uptown Triangle Neighborhood Association of at least two different sightings of a python or boa constrictor snake, at least 6 feet long, seen in the area near Burdette St. and the Mississipi River levee.
The most recent sighting was last week at night, near Benjamin Banneker Elementary School on Burdette St., according to one report.
A second report mentioned seeing the snake in the 400 block of Burdette St. several weeks ago.
NOPD quality of life officers have been notified.
