NEW ORLEANS – Mayor Ray Nagin called the recent indictment of his former technology chief Greg Meffert ‘disappointing’ and he also said he disagrees with much of what former recovery chief Ed Blakely had to say in a recent interview.

Nagin commented for the first time Monday on the high profile incidents involving former high-ranking members of his administration.

Nagin said he disagreed with many of the controversial statements made by Blakely in an interview done with a California University student, but he added that as a private citizen, Blakely had the right to make those comments.

Blakely decried New Orleans as a place where racism is rampant and said that many white people looked forward to taking back power in the city after Katrina. He also stated that many in New Orleans wanted to sit back and have the recovery handled for them.

As for Meffert, Nagin said that while he is disappointed that his former technology chief and close aide was indicted, that it is only an indictment and that he is innocent until proven otherwise.

Does disappointed mean that he is worried? Now exactly what did he disagree with in Blakely's statement? My he is being very careful in his use of words.

it is only and inditement and he is innocent untill proven guilty, remember those words nagin, they will come in handy for you. as far as the comments, i agree with what he said about nola, they left out the chocolate city in the article, one reason racism is so prominant in nola, our mayor makes race an issue. nagin, you may be dissapointed in his inditment, but i bet you are scared out of your cromedome, i cant say your wit, your just a halfwit. whites dont care about getting the power back, what we do care about isgetting corruption out of nola, no matter what color it may be.

...The only thing he is dissappointed in that the truth has been spoken and as we all know, we are not supposed to speak the truth about Orleans Parish politics... "spongebob"

Nagin! Nagin! Nagin! Disapppointed? Disagree? What are you saying. You are the one who hired these loosers. Oh! Didn't you know? And as far as Blakely, he could have stayed wherever he came from. He never did nothing but down New Orleans. Nagin? stop playing innocent, because you'll probably get indicted next.

Nagin weren't you here when they dragged Rev. Avery Alexander down the steps of city hall because he wanted to eat at the lunch counter? Blakely is calling it like it still is. You are gonna feel it like they made Marc FEEL THE RACISIM.
