NEW ORLEANS -- U.S. District Judge Ginger Berrigan has delayed former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin’s trial to Oct. 7. It had been scheduled for April 29.
Nagin is charged with conspiracy, bribery, wire fraud, money laundering and filing a false tax return.
Prosecutors and Nagin’s attorney filed a joint motion Friday to postpone the trial. They said the complex nature of the trial required more time for preparation.
The two sides said they are "actively engaged in resolving" a number of discovery and procedural issues.
