NEW ORLEANS -- A deputy for the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office has been reassigned and relieved of his duties as director of purchasing for the sheriff's office, according to a spokesman for Sheriff Marlin Gusman.

Deputy John Sens was reassigned to security and administrative duties, effective immediately, according to spokesman Marc Ehrhardt, and "until recent questions about the construction of the Temporary Detention Center are resolved," Gusman has removed Sens as a director of purchasing.

According to an earlier 4 Investigates story, federal subpoenas have been issued in connection with prison construction contracts under the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office.  According to sources,  subpoenas were issued in connection with construction at the prison by a company called the DRC Group.

"Sens is a post certified deputy with the OPSO and will work a post within one of the OPSO’s inmate housing facilities," said Ehrhardt.
