NEW ORLEANS – Students hoping to get a day or two off of school if the Saints win the Super Bowl won’t get their wish, according to spokesmen for at least two of the systems.

The Orleans Parish School board and the Algiers Charter schools say students and teachers will have class on Monday, Feb. 8 whether the Saints win or lose.

However, students will likely be let out of class early on Tuesday to attend the celebratory parade, scheduled for 5 p.m.

Orleans Parish schools say their day will end at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Algiers students will be let go at 12:30 p.m.

Pride and happiness are just as important as education. Surely we can all relax and revel for one day.
