NEW ORLEANS - A man traveling as a passenger in an SUV was killed when the vehicle left the road, struck a guardrail and flipped several times according to the NOPD.
The incident occurred on I-10 near the Michoud Blvd. exit around 4 a.m. Sunday.
According to police, the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it left the road after it was struck in the rear bumper possibly by a light-colored truck or SUV causing the vehicle to lose control. The 44-year-old driver was ejected and thrown onto the roadway. He was taken to the hospital and listed as stable.
The 36-year-old passenger was trapped inside the car and pronounced dead on the scene.
