NEW ORLEANS -- A man was hit and killed by a train in the Bywater, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The accident occurred near North Rampart Street and Poland Avenue, according to police.
Around 5:30 p.m., the man was found lying on the railroad tracks and was pronounced dead on the scene. The cause of the death is unclassified pending an autopsy, according to police.
