KENNER, La. – Kenner Police have identified the man found murdered in the Sugar Mill apartments as 20-year-old Tajh Michael Thomas, authorities said Thursday.
Although Thomas is from LaPlace, police said he was living at the Sugar Mill apartments with his 20-year-old cousin Trey Perrilloux. Authorities arrested Perrilloux when he tried to flee from officers upon his return to the apartment.
Kenner police said Perrilloux possessed 133.3 grams of marijuana and found an additional amount of marijuana, 1.7 grams and 24.1 grams of hash, two handguns and a shotgun within the apartment during a search.
Authorities charged Perrilloux with illegal possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains in custody with no bond set, according to a news release from Sergeant Brian McGregor.
As Kenner police attempt to verify if the guns are stolen, authorities said they believe the homicide is narcotics related.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. at the Sugar Mill located at 4520 Williams Boulevard, police said.
A man was found shot inside of an apartment and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the KPD.
Police ask anyone with information on Thomas' murder to call 504-712-2255 or 504-822-1111.
