A volatile family situation turned into a stabbing incident that left a 27-year-old man with several stab wounds, according to the Terrbonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois said that detectives believe an argument between the victim and a man identified Jason Este, the boyfriend of the victim’s mother, preceded the incident that occurred Sunday night around 9:30.
Este is charged with attempted second-degree murder. Bourgeois said that Este, the victim and the victim’s mother all lived in the same home and that there had been an ongoing feud between the two men.
Bourgeois said that on the night of the stabbing, the two men had been drinking and that they argued and began fighting at which time Este grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed the victim five times.
First responders arrived on the scene and transported the victim to Terrebonne General, where he remains, and is listed as stable.
Este was booked into the Terrebone Parish Jail where he remained on a $150,000 bond.
