NEW ORLEANS – Police arrested a man they believe committed two murders about a month apart in 2012, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Isaac Jones, 23, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and booked with the second degree murder of Jeremy Curry, 25. On August 4, Curry was shot multiple times and left for dead in the 8600 block of Gervais Street, police said.
On Wednesday, Jones was booked again with second degree murder in association with the gunning down of Teron Crawford on September 5 in the 3000 block of Audubon Street, according to the NOPD.
Numerous members of the community came forward in both cases to provide information, which greatly helped detectives identify Jones as the triggerman, police said.
“As always, we appreciate the relationship we have with the people of New Orleans and are a better department because of it,” said Superintendent Ronal Serpas.
Jones has previously been arrested for illegal carrying of weapons, resisting an officer, illegal use of a weapon, aggravated battery, possession of marijuana first and second offense, driving on a suspended license and various traffic warrants.
“This was yet another situation where a dangerous person was freely roaming our streets, when his illegal weapons charges of the past clearly indicated that he was a threat to the safety of our community,” Serpas said.
