NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Census Bureau has released new data that shows that population numbers throughout the New Orleans metro area are on the rise.
In Orleans Parish, data shows that 5% more people moved into the area in 2012 than in 2004, and about half of those newcomers are coming in from out of state.
Researchers say these trends may reflect expanding economic opportunities in the City of New Orleans and the metro area.
The new data also reveals that the average rent in Orleans Parish was &861 per month in 2012, a 25% incease since 2004.
The latest data compiled, can be found in “Who lives in New Orleans and the metro area now?” the latest report by the Greater New Orleans Community Data Center.
