NEW ORLEANS - Louisiana has the dirtiest beaches when it comes to water quality, according to a new environmental report from a natural resources defense council.

The group ranked Louisiana dead last out of 30 states.

It's based on the amount of bacteria they found along the state's shores in 2011 that they consider unsafe for swimming and that could lead to health problems.

Five Louisiana beaches were listed as "repeat offenders" for having bacteria problems.

Those beaches were all in Cameron Parish which includes Constance Beach, Gulf Breeze, Little Florida and Long Beach.

The beaches at South Padre Island in Texas and Gulf Shores, Alabama ranked the best.
