NEW ORLEANS – The city’s inspector general says the Nagin administration wasted about $1.7 million by overpaying a company that provided consulting services for disaster recovery.
Ed Quatreveaux’s report said that Disaster Recovery Consultants was awarded a contract following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita to help the city deal with FEMA reimbursement.
The report said the Nagin administration continually extended the deal several times with no assessment of DRC’s progress or a timetable for the work. The report also says that the city ended up paying quite a bit more for similar services that were provided by another company that was doing the work before DRC.
