NEW ORLEANS - Restaurants across the city want people to think pink this October, in support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation in New Orleans and breast cancer awareness month.
Friday morning at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, organizers unveiled the campaign, in which 32 chefs and restaurants will sport pink ribbons and chef's coats this month and designate a healthy menu item or new dish.
Ten percent of the profits from that dish will go to the Komen Foundation for cancer research.
“It’s very rare to have the hospitality community so united,” said Kelly Schulz of the Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We don’t look at ourselves as competitors, but look at ourselves as united in our mission. This program is a great example once again of our hospitality community coming together.”
Among the participating restaurants are some of the city’s best, including the restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton, Arnaud’s, Bayona, The Pelican Club, Café Giovanni and several Brennan family restaurants.
