ANGOLA, LA. -- Warden Burl Cain say four Louisiana State Penitentiary security officers resigned and another was fired after an investigation of alleged sexual activity between prisoners and visitors in June.
The Advocate reports prison investigative reports allege that some officers accepted cash for providing "security" at two special nighttime club banquets, supplied inmates with cellular telephones and other contraband and had "unprofessional relationships" with inmates or their families.
Authorities say no arrests were made as a result of the investigation.
Disciplinary action was taken against 17 inmates.
West Feliciana Parish District Attorney Sam D'Aquilla said the investigation is continuing.
