BATON ROUGE, La. - Lawmakers are taking non-binding steps to save the Times-Picayune.

In one of the final actions of the legislative session, state senators approved a resolution urging the Newhouse family to publish the newspaper every day and to commend the Times-Picayune staff for excellence in journalism.

"Daily delivery of the Times-Picayune is a tradition woven into the very fabric of New Orleans," read  part of Senator JP Morrell's resolution. "Removing it from doorsteps four days a week will have a significant impact - not only on the news consumption - but also on the culture of the Crescent City."
