ST. CHARLES PARISH, La. - St. Charles Parish residents will have to dig a little deeper in their pocket books to pay their bills, now that cost of water service has gone up.
The rate increase of $0.57 per 1,000 gallons of water went into effect in July.
The average customer will see bills increase by about $3/month.
The extra money will be used to offset the $11 million paid out of the parish general fund for water system repairs.
