COVINGTON, La. -- There's been more controversy Wednesday surrounding the spending habits of St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Peter Galvan.

First, a judge in St. Tammany ruled that he had no jurisdiction over Galvan’s request to throw out a subpoena by the State Legislative Auditor’s Office.

Investigators are requesting emails as part of a probe into allegations of misspending.

The case now heads to Baton Rouge for consideration later this month.

In a separate matter, the coroner’s office confirms its executive director, Melanie Comeaux, who also served as in-house counsel, turned in her resignation Wednesday, effective immediately.
