NEW ORLEANS – One man was killed and two others were wounded when shots were fired into the truck they were inside around 9:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of A.P. Tureaud and Abundance Street.
NOPD spokesman Garry Flot said three men were inside of the truck and all were hit when the bullets began flying. One man got out of the truck before it took off and was able to get himself to a hospital for treatment.
Two other men fled in the truck which later struck a utility pole near Paris Avenue and Abundance. The 22-year-old driver got out of the car and took off running, collapsing in front of a home near Trafalgar and North Rendon Streets. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
A 24-year-old man remained in the car and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The names of the victims are not being released for their safety and until the notification of the family of the deceased has occurred.
