NEW ORLEANS, La. -- United Way hopes none of your loved ones were affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda which tore through the Philippines.

More than 10,000 people lost their lives. Entire regions are without food and water. Towns have been destroyed; and this storm is being called one of Asia’s most destructive natural disasters in recent decades.

In response, United Way Worldwide has activated The United Way Worldwide Disaster Rebuilding Fund.

This Fund will support long-term rebuilding and recovery efforts in the Philippines, through the local United Way (Philippine Business for Social Progress) there on the ground.

United Way Worldwide is calling on United Way of Southeast Louisiana for advice because of lessons learned here in the aftermath of the back-to-back Hurricane Katrina and Rita.
