NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans Police Department patrol officer John Ray was acquitted of malfeasance in office. He was cleared of charges that he accepted bribes from a tow truck operator.

A six-person jury acquitted Ray late Wednesday.

Ray is a 39-year veteran assigned to the department's Towing and Recovery unit.
