NEW ORLEANS - WWL-TV and The Advocate New Orleans edition have announced a content partnership that will increase the scope of content on air, on line and in print for the two entities.
Eyewitness News Executive News Director Bill Siegel said the partnership will include cooperative investigations, a weather column by WWL-TV Chief Meteorologist Carl Arredondo for The Advocate and some partnered sports coverage.
"I think this is going to be fantastic," said Gordon Russell, managing editor of investigations for the New Orleans Advocate. "(WWL) is obviously the most trusted name in local TV news, and we're building a team here, and I think we have the potential to do some really great stuff together."
WWL-TV has been the television ratings news leader in the New Orleans market for well in excess of 30 years, while The Advocate is in the midst of an aggressive foray into the market for printed news, providing the only daily newspaper delivery in the Crescent City.
"I think what's really important is that we put together our considerable investigative talent and work together to go beyond what is put out for the public to consume," said Martha Carr, managing editor.
