LOCKPORT, La. -- A 24-year-old woman died after an accident Saturday night in Lafourche Parish.

The accident happened just before 8 p.m. south on La. 1 just south of Lockport.

Jon Mollohan, a 43-year-old Magnolia, Texas resident, tried to pass two vehicles in a no passing zone in a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado. Officials say Dustin Pitre, a 22-year-old Raceland resident, tried to avoid the Silverado in his Ford F-150, but struck it head-on instead.

Mollohan and his passenger, 44-year-old Brenda Thompson, suffered moderate injuries. Pitre was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Pitre's passenger, 24-year-old Rebecca Cooper, was seriously injured in the crash and flown to University Hospital in New Orleans. She died there from her injuries.

All four people involved in the accident were wearing a seat belt, police said. Alcohol use is not suspected.

No charges have been filed, but the case remains under investigation.
