Arrest made in killing at north shore motel

COVINGTON, La. – One man is behind bars and authorities could soon arrest other people after a man was found gunned down inside a Covington-area motel early Tuesday.

Terry Hookfin, 27, was booked on a count of second-degree murder in the death of Brandon Washington, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responding to a report of gunfire about 3:45 a.m. Tuesday found Washington, 32, dead inside a room at the Green Springs Motel, 72533 Highway 23, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities said more arrests could follow.

“We will continue to work until we are certain that everyone responsible for this murder is behind bars,” Sheriff Randy Smith said in a prepared statement.
