Carnival cruise arrival to N.O. delayed due to ‘technical issue' on ship

NEW ORLEANS – The arrival of one of Carnival’s cruise ships is delayed due to a “technical issue,”, the cruise line confirmed to WWL-TV.

The Carnival Triumph was originally scheduled to arrive in New Orleans for Thursday morning, but will be delayed until Thursday at 8 p.m. due to a technical issue that is affecting the ship’s maximum cruising speed.

The cruise line says guests will have the option to get off the ship and head home after the ship’s arrival Thursday night or remain on board and then get off on Friday morning.

The ship will then leave for Mobile, Alabama where repair work, which involves underwater work, will take place.

As a result, a four-day cruise originally scheduled to leave the city Thursday has been cancelled and guests will automatically get a refund along with 25 percent future cruise credit, the cruise line says.
