NEW ORLEANS - The fight for food trucks is ongoing, and a new ordinance heading to the New Orleans City Council is lending a helping hand.
Food truck popularity has grown in the city since Hurricane Katrina.
Regulations on food trucks are outdated, according to City Council President Stacy Head.
Head wants to change regulations on how many food trucks are allowed, licensing fees, where trucks can set up, how long a truck can stay in a location, clean-up requirements and more.
Restaurant owners want to make sure food trucks do not park too closely to their entrance. The current rule says that a food truck must park 600 feet away from a restaurant.
Head could introduce the new ordinance as early as Monday.
