METAIRIE, La. - The Lakeshore branch of the Jefferson Parish library reopened Tuesday, replacing a building badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

More than $4 million went toward rebuilding the library on West Esplanade.

The new building will house more than 28,000 books, DVD's, magazines and reference materials as well as a special children's area.

A grand opening ceremony is set for January 7.
