METAIRIE, La. - If you're traveling through Jefferson Parish this weekend, that commute might be tough if you have to use the I-10 or the Huey P. Long.
That's because the state Transportation Department will have some road closures in effect.
The first major closure takes place here on I-10 at the Causeway Interchange as construction enters its second phase.
Steve Strength with Department of Transportation and Development advised motorists to stay away from I-10 in Metairie for much of the day on Sunday.
The Huey P. Long Bridge will completely close from midnight Saturday to 5 a.m.Monday.
Crews there will be placing concrete for the new widers lanes being constructed on the bridge.
Alternate routes for motorists include the I-310 or the Crescent City Connection.
