JEFFERSON PARISH, La. - According to new statistics from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, crime is up in Jefferson Parish.
The two categories which saw the biggest jump include theft, which is up 18.5 percent, and rape, which is up more than 18 percent, compared to this time last year.
There have been six murders so far in 2012, compared to eight at this time a year ago.
