MARRERO, La. - Jefferson Parish District Attorney Paul Connick vowed to retry a man on charges that he murdered a man during a robbery attempt three years ago.

Over the weekend, a judge declared a mistrial in the case against Dejean Turner, 23, after a jury could not reach a verdict.

Turner shot and killed Leonel Rodriguez, 35, during a robbery attempt outside the victim's Terrytown apartment in April 2009, prosecutors said.

Turner denies his involvement in the crime and said detectives forced him to confess to the crime.
