JEFFERSON PARISH, La. – A man that was the victim of an alleged beating in Marerro died in the hospital Tuesday after suffering from a seizure, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

After Chezare Lawson, 31, of Westwego died around 5:30 p.m. at West Jefferson Medical Center, detectives spoke with his family members who said that he had been beaten on Saturday.

The alleged incident occurred at a Discount Store in the 6600 block of the Westbank Expressway, according to JPSO.

Lawson was reportedly beaten with a baseball bat by two individuals named “Nanoonie” and “Tae Tae,” detectives said.

Immediately following the confrontation, Lawson returned to his home and chose not to seek medical attention, according to JPSO. Not long after, he suffered a seizure and was transferred to the hospital and underwent treatment until his death.

Investigators are attempting to identify both nicknamed suspects and locate any witnesses to the alleged beating.
