Jeff. Parish crews to conduct aerial spraying for mosquitoes Wednesday

JEFFERSON, La. – Crews will conduct aerial spraying for mosquitos on the east and west bank of Jefferson Parish Wednesday, in an effort to combat an increased presence of West Nile virus in mosquitoes.

The low-level aerial spraying will take place Wednesday between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., parish officials said.

The boundaries to be sprayed are as follows: 

West Bank

1)    Gretna /Harvey-Marrero, in the area bounded by the Mississippi River on the north, the West Bank Expressway on the south, the Orleans/Jefferson Parish line on the east and Barataria Boulevard on the west.

2)    Westwego, in the area bounded by the Mississippi River on the north, Lapalco Boulevard on the south, Victory Drive on the east and Nine Mile Point Road on the west.

3)    Waggaman, in the area bounded by the Mississippi River on the north, Live Oak Boulevard on the south, Modern Farms on the east and the Jefferson/St. Charles Parish line on the west.

East Bank

1)    Metairie, in the area bounded by Veterans Memorial Boulevard on the north, Airline Drive on the south, Causeway Boulevard on the east and Williams Boulevard on the west.

2)    Harahan/River Ridge, in the area bounded by Airline Drive on the north, the Mississippi River on the south, Clearview Parkway on the east and Williams Boulevard on the west.

3)    Kenner, in the area bounded by Lake Pontchartrain on the north, the Louis Armstrong International Airport on the south, Williams Boulevard on the east and the St. Charles/Jefferson Parish line on the west.

If weather conditions force the cancellation of the scheduled flight, aerial spraying will take place on the next available evening.
