KENNER, La. -- The Kenner Police Department is taking part in a Full Scale Active Shooter Exercise at the Esplanade Mall at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, and is warning residents of loud noises such as simulated gunfire, sirens, and screaming in the area.

Responders will address several “Active Shooter” situations inside the Esplanade Mall, according to the Kenner Police Department.

Kenner Police say that this is simply a training exercise and there will be a number of emergency response vehicles in the area participating.

In addition to addressing the Active Shooter Threat, law enforcement responders will also have to coordinate with medical responders to provide aid to victims.

Agencies and organizations participating include: Kenner Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigations, East Jefferson General Hospital Emergency Medical Services, Kenner Fire Department, Kenner Office of Emergency Management, G4S Security, Esplanade Mall, Target, and The Renegades.
