Jefferson Parish leaders say there is progress to report in the flood fight in the Lafitte-Barataria area.

Councilman Ricky Templet says workers were able to get a 30-inch pump going in the Goose Bayou community which took on about 10 feet of water during Isaac.

The pump is one of about 30 pumps now running in lower Jefferson.

Crews hope to get most of the water off of the Lafitte Highway Monday, so neighbors can get home to assess damage to their properties.

Sunday, workers breached a levee in the Barataria area to help drain flood waters.

Templet says it looks like no further breaches will be necessary.
