NEW ORLEANS - The doors opened at the polls at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
Residents that did not cast an early ballot may run into some long lines on election day.
Officials are expecting a large turnout across the city.
Election personnel asked residents to come prepared for the complicated ballot.
"We just encourage people to come as informed as they can, make an opinion, because it's not only the constitutional amendments. It's also the Mississippi River Bridge/Crescent City Connection tolls, as well as in Jefferson, president and congress. In Kenner, you have two charter changes. So again, encourage people to become informed before you show up to vote. It will speed up the whole process," said Dennis DiMarco of the Jefferson Parish Registrar of Voters.
Polls are open for 14 hours and close at 8 p.m. across Louisiana.
Anyone that encounters any activity that may be irregular at the polls should contact Louisiana's Election Fraud Hotline at 1-800-722-5305. Residents can report election day voter fraud, vote buying or voter intimidation.
Election coverage starts at 5 p.m. on WWLTV. Once the polls close, WWLTV will have local updates and results on the bottom of your screen throughout the night and full coverage on the Eyewitness News at 10 p.m.
