HARVEY, La. – A detention officer with a record for indecent behavior with a juvenile was arrested again when a letter from a Rivarde Juvenile Detention Center inmate revealed similar behavior, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
In the letter, the 16-year-old inmate said Alvin Dabney, 44, made inappropriate comments to him while he was in “time-out” on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9, including bribing him with snacks, soft drinks and outside food in exchange for Dabney being allowed to perform oral sex, deputies said.
Dabney asked the victim to take off his clothing several times and put his hand on the victim’s thigh, which the victim quickly slapped away.
The victim claimed to have met Dabney around his neighborhood before he was locked up. He said they exchanged phone numbers and the victim began receiving incessant texts from Dabney.
At one point, Dabney asked the victim to send a picture of his penis and the victim obliged. Dabney later admitted that the picture sexually excited him, but he erased it, deputies said.
The victim’s mother filed a police report with Westwego PD about the excessive phone contact.
On Feb. 16, detectives interviewed Dabney and eventually arrested him on two counts indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of malfeasance in office.
