KENNER, La. - Police arrested a man after finding 32 marijuana plants and 18 guns inside his home, according to the Kenner Police Department.
On Tuesday, police arrested David Hart, 33, after receiving an anonymous tip of marijuana grow in the 100 block of Milsaps Place.
In addition to the plants and guns (including four assault rifles,) police discovered military grade body armor, gas masks, an improvised ammunition handbook, 145 grams of marijuana and ammunition, KPD said. Authorities say most of the drugs and guns were found inside Hart's living room. They say he had extra plywood on his wooden fence to keep neighbors from seeing in through the windows.
Hart was charged with manufacturing a Schedule 1 controlled dangerous substance, illegal possession of a Schedule 1 controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of body armor and illegal possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies.
Hart has already served time in relation to a felony conviction for assault by drive by shooting, according to KPD. Police say Hart lived with his girlfriend, but that she is cooperating and is not facing any charges. They say they are not looking for any other suspects in the case.
Hart remained in custody and had no bond set. Police are still investigating to find out if any of the weapons were stolen.
