HARVEY, La. - A man that was working on a boat in the Harvey Canal on Wednesday fell into the water and drowned, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
A call was made around 3 p.m. when Randy Harris, 47, an employee at Total Marine Services, hit the water near the 2000 block of Destrehan Avenue.
Workers threw Harris a life preserver, but he didn't resurface after going under, according to the JPSO.
According to friends, Harris had worked for the company for at least 10 years.
