HARVEY, La. – A triple shooting in Harvey on Wednesday night left one woman dead, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Around 10:59 p.m., deputies responded to numerous reports of gunshots at 1561 Maplewood Dr.
Deputies found the body of a woman, later identified as Tonesha Riggins, 19. Riggins had been shot in the head lying near the front door, according to the sheriff’s office. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
Derrick Ellis, 20, of Harvey, and Earl Perry, 26, of Slidell, were found shot inside the home and transported to University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
As of Thursday morning, Perry remains in stable condition at the hospital, and Ellis was released from the hospital with minor injuries, according to the Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.
A substantial amount of shell casings believed to have been fired from an assault-type rifle were found, deputies said. Investigators also found a small amount of 9 MM shell casings believed to have been fired from a handgun.
"Homicide Detective Randall Fernandez, who is the handling the follow-up investigation in this matter learned from witnesses that immediately following the barrage of gunfire an older model red, Ford Mustang, with a black top and dark tinted windows was seen fleeing south on Maplewood Dr.," said Fortunato.
